Sunday, June 19th, 2022 - Communities' Council on Ethnic Issues (Eastern Region)

The Communities' Council on Ethnic Issues (Eastern Region Melbourne) and Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place are holding a grass roots event to celebrate Refugee Week 2022. It will take place on Saturday 25 June from 11:00 am and feature cultural, arts, song and dance contributing positively to greater understanding between all cultures. Participants will celebrate the great contribution refugees make to all aspects of Australian life. The community will also learn about the rich culture and traditions of First Nations People and meet Aunty Irene and the Yen Gali choir.

This is a free family friendly event, to be held at the Central Ringwood Community Hall, Bedford Park, Rosewarne Ln, Ringwood VIC. The event will end with a free light multicultural lunch. Book your seat and arrive early so as not to miss the Indigenous Smoking Ceremony.

Communities' Council on Ethnic Issues (Eastern Region)


The Communities’ Council on Ethnic Issues (CCOEI) is situated in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. The organisation commenced operation due to the needs of increased numbers of migrants and refugees arriving in the region in the 1980s. CCOEI partners with a wide range organisations such as Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place as well as refugee based organisations, councils and other not-for-profit and government organisations.

CCOEI is a not-for-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation. It adheres to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and represents the multicultural interests of the community. It holds a Migrant Settlement Committee meeting on a monthly basis on the first Friday of the month except for July and January each year.
