Building upon its award-winning growth in the Melbourne market, leading software engineering and design consultancy Lexicon Digital is expanding its delivery capabilities in Sydney, beginning with two strategic hires.
Sebastien Amielh leads the team as General Manager in Sydney and is joined by Client Principal Kim Spithill. Together, they intend to ensure Lexicon’s hyper-growth is sustainable through a strong people and recruitment strategy.
“We anticipate that the team will quadruple in size over the next 12 months”, says Amielh. “But we won’t compromise on quality as we grow. Quality is paramount, and part of our DNA.”
Spithill agrees. “For many companies, COVID-19 has brought forward digital transformation by five years. Lexicon is scaling up to meet massive demand in Sydney, but as with any rapid growth opportunity, there needs to be balance. We’re scaling in a way that aligns with Lexicon’s core mission – to always deliver on promises.”
Working across Canada, France and Australia, Amielh has over 20 years of professional experience in several roles including sales, account management, architecture, project management and software engineering in industries ranging from Media & Telecommunications, Banking & Finance to Defence.
Amielh brings to Lexicon experience in rapidly growing a team while maintaining a strong focus on workplace culture and delivery frameworks. As a GM, Amielh knows what good looks like across engineering, program management, and sales – all of which will be essential as Lexicon grows in the Sydney market.
Spithill is an experienced digital and product executive who has worked primarily with web and mobile products, all in the cloud. He has worked at global automotive IT company Infomedia, cloud innovation consultancies, a series of digital start-ups, and Object Consulting, where he worked closely with Amielh.
Working across strategy, delivery, and growth, Spithill particularly enjoys the initial research phase in customer discussions to build up the “why, what, and how” of a digital project.
Building a team to execute on the vision
One of Amielh’s favourite quotes is “Vision without execution is a hallucination”, and he uses this to illustrate Lexicon Digital’s competitive advantage.
“Lexicon is a technology partner, which is why we have design and software engineering involved from the get-go. Having a design and engineering lens helps us to show clients how to implement quicker with exceptional quality, all the while keeping costs down."
Spithill says that Lexicon is “admittedly picky” in the way they recruit. “We have high standards, which helps build strong and enduring capability. I’ve got a lot of confidence in the value proposition and in the skill-set I’m seeing.”
Lexicon’s recruitment strategy focuses on attracting people who are not only experts in their fields but have strong experience in consulting. “We also look for cultural aspects such as great collaboration, an appetite for learning, an ability to see the bigger picture, and a good head for business”, says Amielh.
“We recruit go-getters; people who see themselves as one day becoming leaders in their own right.”
