Textile Clothing Footwear Resource Centre of WA Inc. (TCFWA, TCF Australia, TCF Global) has announced a plan to consult with businesses in the industry to determine the current skill gaps and training needs of the WA fashion & textile, clothing, and footwear industries workforce.
TCFWA is conducting the research on behalf of Food, Fibre and Timber Industries Training Council (FFTITC) who advocate training needs for the textiles, clothing, and footwear industries in WA to improve the current and future skills of its workforce.
Carol Hanlon, Founder and Manager of TCFWA said, “The research is important to assess the state of affairs across a range of topics, asking whether businesses struggle to get skilled workers or if there are any specific gaps/shortages in skills in their current workforce and provide information on Traineeships and government subsidies available. Businesses will be also be asked about the impact that COVID-19 has had, such as disruption in their supply chains”.
The information gathered will then be collated and reported to the Government by the Training Council. This will highlight the current state of the workforce and any issues that may be experienced presently or in the future.
“We look forward to assisting in the growth and development of the TCF Industry in WA which has been impacted over past years through a range of external pressures.” said Ms Carol Hanlon.
