Two Directors at Harcourts Property Centre are reinventing the concept of Shave for a Cure, with the aim to raise $10,000 for pancreatic and bowel cancer research. Sam Devlin and Aaron Brooks have committed to wearing professional wigs every day (24 hours a day) during the month of August to raise the much-needed funds. They have called the initiative ‘Hairgust’.
Sam and Aaron established Hairgust having never had the opportunity to participate in Shave for a Cure (as they don't currently have hair). During the month of August, the two property Directors will be wearing wigs fitted by Replique, a Brisbane-based business which specialises in professional wigs. Harcourts Property Centre Business Development Manager Dimitri Loukaras has also committed to shaving his head to raise funds. A GoFundMe page has been created to drive donations to the cause. Major sponsor Homely have also jumped on board and donated $3,000 to the cause.
Throughout August fundraising initiatives will be hosted by Harcourts Property Centre, where all proceeds raised will go directly to pancreatic and bowel cancer research foundations. The passing of Sam’s father to pancreatic cancer and Aaron’s mother to bowel cancer keeps the foundations close to their hearts. When asked about Hairgust Aaron stated, “It’s for a good cause and cancer unfortunately effects most of us at some stage through our lives. Ultimately, that’s why we’re doing this. It shows we’re prepared to stand up for things we believe in and play our part to help”. Sam and Aaron are calling on members from the community and businesses to consider donating if they have been impacted by these deadly cancers.
Sam and Aaron will be participating in Hairgust in the hope to raise $10,000 for pancreatic and bowel cancer. Donations can be made via this GoFundMe page.
