Bravehearts welcomes support from Turbo Studio Randwick

for White Balloon Day as part of National Child Protection Week!

White Balloon Day is Friday 7 September - National Child Protection Week is 2 – 8 September 2018

Today, Bravehearts, Australia’s leaders in child protection for 22-years, has welcomed Turbo Studio’s participation in White Balloon Day (Friday 7 September) during National Child Protection Week (2 – 8 September 2018).

Bravehearts’ White Balloon Day is Australia’s only national awareness and fundraising campaign dedicated to preventing child sexual assault through generating awareness to help educate children, parents and adults of the need to do more to protect kids from a crime that affects more than 60,000 children in all corners of Australia, every year.

Hetty Johnston AM, Founder and Executive Chair of Bravehearts said, “We’re delighted that Turbo Studio has joined forces with Bravehearts to participate in White Balloon Day as part of National Child Protection Week to increase awareness of the importance of child protection and raise essential funds to support Bravehearts’ vital work.

“In Australia, a child is sexually assaulted every 90 minutes – that’s 1 in 5 children who are sexually harmed in some way before their 18th Birthday – a statistic that is totally unacceptable in Australian society.

“Child protection is everybody’s business and every adult, business and organisation can each play an important role in child protection by supporting Bravehearts to help us create safer communities for all Australian children,” Ms Johnston said.

“Every Australian child has the right to feel safe and we’re indebted to Turbo Studio for taking an active role over the past four years in promoting Bravehearts and fundraising to help us continue to protect Australian children throughout Australia,” she said.

Turbo Studio Owner Joanne Palazzetti has been committed to raising awareness of child protection and increasing the profile of Bravehearts in NSW using her business to generate over $70k through her annual November cycle Ride With A Brave Heart For Bravehearts, and her Bravehearts Turbo Studio Masters Race.

Ms Palazzetti said “White Balloon Day is an additional opportunity for me to further educate my community about Bravhearts and child protection by getting people involved in a short free 40km ride from Centennial Park to Turbo Studio HQ where around 40 riders will be welcomed with a BBQ Breakfast.

“We’re asking riders to preregister at, participation in the ride is free but we’re asking for a $10 donation at breakfast with all funds going to support the vital work of Bravehearts making Australia the safest place to raise a child” said Palazzetti.

Bob Atkinson AO APM, Former Commissioner for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse said, “As a long term supporter of Bravehearts, the community’s support for White Balloon Day is vital! An individuals’ safety underpins their entire quality of life and is a right not an option.

“While there is still much to do in that regard, Bravehearts are at the forefront of child protection and this assistance enables them to continue their important and valuable work,” the Former Commissioner said.

Bravehearts’ White Balloon Day campaign, funded by the Department of Social Services - National Initiatives, is Australia’s longest running annual national awareness campaign for the prevention of child sexual assault.

During National Child Protection Week everyone with the responsibility to care for children can help them stay safe by participating in White Balloon Day and conducting any of Bravehearts child safe activities at

Teach Children Early: The 5 Basic Principles of Personal Safety

1.  To trust their feelings and to distinguish between ‘yes’ and ‘no’ feelings.

2.  To say ‘NO’ if they feel unsafe and unsure.

3.  That they own their own bodies.

4.  That nothing is so yucky that they can’t tell someone about it.

5.  That if they feel unsafe or unsure to run and tell someone they trust.

Now in our ninth year of operation, Turbo Studio is Sydney's first Indoor Cycle Training House. Since opening  Turbo Studio has evolved into outdoor training, one-on-one Coaching, touring and training camps as well as our Bravehearts Turbo Studio Masters Race Team which is our not for profit project in aid of Bravehearts charity.

Bravehearts Turbo Studio Masters Race Team has a rider roster of twelve exceptional Masters Riders some with professional cycling backgrounds, others from the National Road Series and one an Olympian. It's an impressive collaboration that harnesses cycling talent, passion for a most important cause and a Charity whose challenge in raising awareness of childhood sexual abuse is a daily one and uphill all the way.

Ride With A Brave Heart For Bravehearts commences on the 8th November 2018 with a group of cyclists riding from Merimbula NSW to Jindabyne and return covering 500km and climbing over 9,000 vertical metres, returning to Merimbula on 10th November. They'll be riding with a brave and proud heart in aid of Bravehearts Foundation Ltd. Australia's voice and champion for the prevention of child sexual assault. You can be part of the ride. The event will include pre-event training rides (in Sydney) and for the event itself riders will supported by Ride Captains, fully equipped vehicles, evening leg massage, motel accommodation and all meals as well as a full cycle kit. Our aim is to keep your entry costs to a minimum in order that not only can you justify the event cost within your own budget but so you can keep your focus on the most important non-cycling element of all - fundraising for Bravehearts.

Although both projects are incredibly exciting for everyone ay Turbo Studio, first and foremost on the agenda is to shed more light across the topic of childhood sexual abuse in Australia. It is far more common than many realise with one in five children will be the victim of some form of sexual exploitation before they reach the age of eighteen. Through educating our children and ultimately the entire Australian community we have the power to change this.
