7 out of 10 Australian workers surveyed say their boss yells at them, according to a survey conducted in Australia last month by local and international award winning corporate training company - Happening People (www.HappeningPeople.com) - which crossed multiple industries and organisations.
Since 1995 the Australian government has made a significant investment into Australian enterprise in particular its workers to better prepare them for work and leadership and we wanted to find out if their investment was bearing fruit.
Managing Director of Happening People, Samuel Day said: “The results of the survey were appalling in particular the behaviour of Australian bosses and this has a direct impact on organisational performance. Organisations have at their disposal a plethora of options available to them when it comes to strengthening their manager’s behaviour and performance. In particular leadership training, executive coaching and more broadly organisational strategic development.”
The Karpin report commissioned by the Australian Government in 1995 and revisited in 2011 examined worldwide enterprise trends and best practice in the development of managers. The report identified ways to improve management education and the development of leadership and management skills in Australia. Many of the report’s recommendations centred on developing the skills of frontline managers.
